August Favorites

Hey y’all! Happy September! I’m so excited for the start of a new month… Cooler weather & the start of fall… What could be better than that?!

But before August is too far gone, I wanted to share some of my favorites from the past month!

  1. Bondi Sands Aero Tanning Foam

I love a good tan, but my time to lounge by the pool has decreased significantly since Bryant was born! This summer I have been relying heavily on self tanner and I recently discovered this one at Walgreens and I love it!

I have used quite a few brands over the years and this one is my favorite so far. It is a very natural looking color and easy to apply. It also smells SO good and doesn’t have a weird artificial smell. I have been applying this every 1-2 weeks since mid-June and I haven’t run out yet, so I think you get a pretty good bang for your buck!

I shower, shave and exfoliate before applying. Then I use the Bondi Sands Mitt to apply it before bed, put on a long sleeve tshirt and pajama pants (to avoid any transfer to the sheets) and just rinse it off in the morning! Super easy and great results!

I have been working out at home a lot lately, and to be honest, I get sick of doing the same things all the time. So, this month I decided to switch it up and order some resistance bands! I have been surprised by how many different things you can do with these and how good of a workout you can get with them! I just look up “resistance band workout” on YouTube and get to work while Bryant naps!

I just want to apologize to all the Essential Oil enthusiasts that I used to make fun of endlessly. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still don’t believe that eucalyptus oil can heal cancer or grow back a bone, but I am a believer in the power of a house that smells clean!

I don’t really know much about diffusers but this one holds a lot of water, cuts off when the water runs out and is completely silent… Highly recommend.

Oh, and it has a bunch of different colored light options but I usually just have mine on white. FYI

I’m really terrible with money, so I made a decision this month to try and stick to a budget. I am still not great — No miracles to report here — but this app has really helped me keep track of my spending! I am no expert by any means, but I just thought I’d pass it along.

I’m sure I’m not the only momma who struggles to balance my marriage and motherhood. I truly cannot recommend this book enough if that’s the season you’re in! Even for moms of older children, I think this book is such an encouragement. Think of it as a “Love Dare” like from the movie Fireproof, but specifically for new moms and their husbands. I’m only 1 week into the 21 day challenge and I already feel like things are shifting to a more balanced place.

2 Days Late

I honestly did not have time to sit down and write a journal post the past 2 evenings. They’ve been busy days, which I’m not complaining about.

Tuesday I went to the gym after work and then hurried home to get ready. The gym was more

crowded than usual so I was kind of annoyed, but it’s whatevs.

Our Kindergarten team goes out once a month to celebrate birthdays and this month’s Choice was Longhorn. It was a really fun night and I wish we had taken a group picure or something!

I did take this picture of the “super moon” though.

B was working at the church again, so I was solo after dinner. I ended up taking a pot of chicken and dumplings to Erika’s house since she is sick. She tested negative for the flu but it sure sounds like the flu to me. I didn’t go in the house, just to be safe. Ha

Wednesday was the last day of January. Everyone keeps talking about how it lasted forever but I don’t know. It seemed to go by pretty quickly for me.

That afternoon, I had to run to the grocery for my mom and then I went home. No gym on Wednesdays.

The youth band played at Fusion, and they have improved so much since the first time they played.

After church, me and B went to Chick-fil-A. My mom gave us a CFA calendar for Christmas so we wanted to use our reward. We ended up sitting inside to eat because the line was 100 miles long (as always). But I didn’t mind because I got an unexpected date with B : )

And of course, we ended the night watching Grey’s... of course.

Mondays are a “Restart” Button

Since getting sick last weekend, I’ve been going a little overboard with junk food. What is it about being sick that makes you just want to eat anything and everything? It was fun while it lasted but last night I felt like a gross beast, so today I committed to getting back on the healthy train.

I woke up and ate a big breakfast ready to take on the day. I had a goal of not eating any junk food or candy today and I was successful. I feel better already!

I went to the gym after work and I’m so exhausted now, but it was worth it.

My Monday workout. I created this myself last fall and have really been enjoying it so far.

For dinner I made a new recipe: Emily Bites Bubble Up BBQ Chicken & Bean Bake. It was SO GOOD. To be honest, some of the “bubble up casseroles” are hit or miss for me, but this was b o m b.
