A Denim Shirt... 3 Ways!

Y’all, it is so H O T! These really are the “dog days” of summer, and I for one am ready for the weather to cool off… A lot of the boutiques I follow on Instagram are already posting sweaters and boots in preparation for fall, but I know it will be a little while longer before we are ready for all that!

One of my favorite pieces of clothing year round is a denim shirt, and it has definitely been a staple this summer! I love denim because it is always in season and can be styled so many different ways! It’s such a great transition piece as we prepare the weather to cool down, as well. I wanted to show y’all how you can take one shirt and make three totally different outfits for any occasion!

Casual Day Out

Denim Top / Linen Shorts / Flip Flops / Earrings / Sunglasses

I have posted about linen shorts already this summer, and I definitely consider them a staple for the hot weather. I LOVE them with this denim shirt and flip flops. This would be the perfect outfit for lunch with a friend or running errands. I love when I can just throw my hair in a messy bun and still look cute!

Working Girl Chic

Shirt / Pants / Shoes / Earrings / Bag (similar)

I just think every girl should have a good pair of black pants in their closet. This outfit would be great for the office or a casual dinner date. I like the tied up look with the high waisted pants — and I paired it with an oversized leather bag and my favorite espadrilles.

Sunday Best

Shirt / Skirt / Wedges / Sunglasses / Earrings / Diaper Bag

I know a lot of girls who don’t think they can pull off a maxi skirt, but I think they would be pleasantly surprised if they just step out of their comfort zone and try it! Now that I am usually running around with Bryant in tow, I love to have easy go-to outfits that are still stylish and dressy, but I don’t have to put a lot of work into them! This was the perfect outfit for church Sunday. I love the denim top with the striped skirt, and then a simple wedge sandal.

Even though I love buying new clothes, I really like when I can take an item I’ve had in my closet for a while and give it new life and a fresh look! I hope this was helpful for y’all… I hope to do more posts like this in the future!

And special thanks to my hype man/photographer Shelby for helping me get all my pictures! : )

August Favorites

Long Time, No Blog! I took the summer off to relax and enjoy... But I'm back! : ) I just wanted to share some of my favorite new products from this past month...

  1. Loreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm

This is admittedly an old favorite that I have used for a year or so now, but over the summer I tried some other deep conditioners and they just fell short! I recently went lighter with my hair, so I have been really intentional about making sure it's moisturized and taken care of so it doesn't look fried! I use this in place of regular conditioner, and I absolutely love the way my hair looks and feels.

2) Neutrogena Makeup Removing Wipes

First of all, if you're not using a makeup remover of some sort before you wash your face, I promise you there is still makeup left when you go to bed at night. I used to be weary of this "unnecessary step", but once I started using them I never looked back. I have tried several different brands, but I keep coming back to these! Most other brands burn my eyes or feel too rough on my face. These are very moist and soft, so they are gentle on your skin, but the liquid is very mild so your eyes don't feel like they are about to fall out of your head. These are holy grail item for me!

3) Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation

This. Foundation. Is. Life.

It's so light on the skin and the coverage is on point. I apply mine with a stippling brush and I am obsessed with the way it looks. I'm not sure if I would say it lasts 24 hours, but it lasts all day at work, which is good enough for me!

I will say, if you are oily (like me), you MUST set it with a powder. Especially in this Georgia humidity, the "glow" can start looking like "grease" real quick.

I cannot wait to see how it does in the cooler weather.

4) Maybelline Face Studio Master Concealer

I bought this concealer in June... And then left it in our room at BaseCamp... So I thought. I actually found it in my suitcase at the beach last weekend, and I was so excited to try it! I LOVE it. The coverage is absolutely out of this world, but it's not drying or cakey and it blends like a dream. I just set it with a little translucent powder and I'm ready to go.

5) Batiste Hint of Color Dry Shampoo

I have talked about this product for years, but all I really have to say is it's awesome. I hate washing my hair more than anything, so this really saves me when I'm feeling especially lazy. I love the hint of color because it leaves no residue, and it comes in brown, blonde and red, so you can get what you need, girl.

6) Smoky Gray Mist Wax Cubes

I think is a great transition scent from Summer to Fall. It smells a little like cologne, but not so much that it gives you a headache. I love using my wax melter, but I just saw this comes in a candle too, so I might be adding that to my collection very soon!

That's all I got for you this time. I hope I can get back to regular posts soon! : )

The Week Before Fall Break...

I knew the week before Fall Break would be crazy, but I wasn't really prepared for this week... It started on Monday. It was really like any other day... I woke up and rolled over to check my phone, and then realized something terrible: The sun was up. It was 8:30AM!!! I had overslept by 3 hours!

I have never gotten dressed and ready that fast in my life. That day was just a blur in my mind! But, it did force me to buy a real alarm clock, which makes me feel all sorts of grown up : )

The rain decided to move along, and the sun finally came out to say hello again! Another good thing about being so late on Monday was that every other day of the week, I was SUPER EARLY. I didn't really mind the extra time because I got to see the sun come up each day. It was extra beautiful Wednesday morning, so of course I had to take a picture.

Today was just a crazy blur. We had several visitors to our classroom, two birthday parties, and the excitement of the upcoming break buzzing in the air! I got 3 Ryal's Bakery cookies from different people during the day. I must confess I had two of them...

I also made this delicious Chili Carne Dip for my Kindergarten team! I used this dip mix, and it was so easy! It has ground beef, diced tomatoes, cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar cheese... It was all gone by lunch time, so I guess it was good! : )

Ms. Black and I were twins today! I am so thankful to work with such a sweet friend. I truly look forward to working with her everyday!

I'm so excited for a full week of fall break! It's gonna be so nice to sleep in, stay up late and not worry about sight words, letter sounds and 3-D shapes for a little while... : )
