Hello Summer!

May was a strug.

I never thought summer break would come. After our beach trip, I knew time would tick away slowly. The last month of school is full of fun, but also a lot of chaos. The kids have summer fever, the teachers are tired and everything is ready for a break. I had countdowns on my phone, my white board, my desk calendar, and even in the bathroom... You could say I was ready : )

In the midst of the chaos, there were moments of peace. I walked outside one evening to find this sunset, and I had to take a picture. Of course, a photo doesn't do it justice... Does it ever?

Sunday night Supper Club is still going strong. We had a fake low country boil at the beginning of May.. I say fake because we got the crab legs steamed at Kroger and just boiled the potatoes and corn separately. This was so good! And it just signifies summer for me...

The most exciting part of the month was (of course) Mack's 3rd Birthday! Mack is officially a "big boy" and he will tell you so... : )

We had BBQ at his party and it was so good! If nothing else, my family knows how to throw a party.

Mack's Birthday present was a little gator. He fell in L O V E immediately. He was so cute! The 2nd picture was from the next morning before 7AM... He woke up wanting to ride! I love him more than words can say.

The last day of school! We made it. I'm not being dramatic when I say, there were days I didn't think I'd make it to May 24th... But we did it! Together.

A lot of change is coming our way next year... We will no longer be Blandy Hills and will have a new name, as well as be converting to a K-2 school rather than K-5. It will be different, to say the least, but change is not always a bad thing.

Another change going on is in our youth group! For the summer, we will be having small group Bible study in people's homes rather than meeting as a large group at church. I'm excited to be hosting the High School girls at our house! Week 1 we had a Luau theme... I served "Maui" Onion Dip, Hawaiian punch,  Tropical fruit and Hawaiian pork (cocktail wienies). I love a theme.

Week 2, we did a Fiesta themed nacho bar! We also combined with the boys since their regular hosts were out of town. This was so much fun. I wish I could have people over every night!

For Memorial Day, we had a little get together at the house. B smoked a butt (which took FOREVER) but it was sooooo worth the wait! We listened to some classic Patriotic hits and even said the Pledge of Allegiance before we ate supper. It was a great day to be an American.

May Faves!

I cannot believe it's the first day of June! May was such a fun month; FULL of busy, exciting, and new things. I thought I would share some of my favorite things from the month!

Beauty Faves

I'm not sure if the foundation is really making my skin 'better', but I love it so much! It's a medium coverage, and feels so light on the skin. I definitely recommend it now that the weather is getting toasty!

The moisturizer is labeled for sensitive skin, but I just really like this because it's so light. It absorbs so quickly into the skin, and is not greasy at all.

Some new. Some old. All good. Since B installed bluetooth in my car, I've quit relying on the radio and started looking for new and different music to listen to. When I was making this list, I realized just how random and weird my music tastes are.. lol These albums couldn't be more different! But that's ok with me.

Milledgeville got an Aldi, and I'm so happy about it! I have been to the Aldi in Macon before, but it really wasn't worth a 45 minute drive to do my shopping. It's so cheap, y'all. And it's small and convenient and they have everything I need. I am just thrilled.

Food Faves

This photo is from my Taco Salad post, but I wanted to share it again because one of my favorite things about this time of year is the fresh food! The fruit and vegetables this time of year are to die for. I'm so excited to eat delicious, fresh food all summer long!

Iced coffee/lattes are also something I'm into this summer. I have never really done iced coffee before, but after having the most amazing iced latte in Lynchburg, I wanted to venture out and try things other than plain coffee with cream. Ha! : ) My latest jam is an iced latte with hazelnut and coconut. Summer in a cup, I tell ya.

Really, this is an all-year-round fave, but since it's officially "Grilling Season", I will claim it as a May fave! You just can't beat the flavor from a grill. It just makes me happy!

My Life Faves

I don't need to tell you, but graduation was a major May fave. I am so, so happy to be finished with school! And I'm so proud of myself. It was all worth it!

Spontaneous date nights are always a fave. When B came home and took me to Aubri Lane's, it was much needed and soooo perfect! That lamb was absolutely delicious.

Summer break! It has been so nice to sleep a little later, hang out with our friends, spend more time outside, cook, and just relax!

MACK. Mack is a May Fave forever and always. We celebrated his second birthday this month, and it was so much fun!

I didn't get to take any pictures of him a the party, but this is one of my favorite pictures of him. He is growing so quickly, and I absolutely love watching him learn and develop his little personality. He is so funny! He repeats everything you say and would play outside all day if you let him. I just love this sweet baby so much! Time, please slow down.

Weekend Recap: Mack Turns One!

I cannot believe my nephew is ONE! I know it's cliché to say, but the year really flew by!

My sister and her husband hosted the party at their home, and kept it small. It was such a nice day, and ALL ABOUT MACK... The way it should be : )

The theme was "Peter Rabbit". My mom had a lot of Peter Rabbit books and collectables from when Natalie was a baby, so most of the decorations were from that collection. It was really sweet.

B really appreciated the eye to detail... ; )

The food was kind of a picnic lunch style. We had pimento cheese, chicken salad, macaroni salad, egg salad, olive dip, lots of fruits and veggies, chips, and of course nuggets from Chick-fil-A. It was a really cute spread, courtesy of my mother of course... She really can do it all!

For dessert we had a frozen strawberry cheesecake and petit fours from Ryal's Bakery in Milledgeville, of course!

Mack had his own cake and had such a good time making a M E S S. The cake was perfect and he absolutely loved the icing! He had never had sugar like that, so it was hilarious to see him on a sugar high later in the afternoon!

Uncle B and I gave Mack his first truck! I wasn't really sure what his reaction would be, but he absolutely loved it! He got in and out over and over-- probably about 1000 times. We were so happy that he liked it!

Mack, you are so special to us!

You are growing and changing everyday.

You are so smart, and we love watching you explore and learn.

You are the light of our lives, and we pray for you everyday.

God loves you and so do your "Aint" and Uncle B!

Happy Birthday to Me!

When you get past your 21st, birthdays don't seem to have the same excitement as they used to... That being said, I did exactly what I wanted to do on my birthday... We ate delicious food, and just relaxed! It wasn't exciting, but it was perfect to me.

I had Thai for lunch with B, my mother and my aunt Juli at my favorite place: Kai Thai... We shared a few appetizers, got sushi and some different noodle bowls. I didn't worry about Points, but just enjoyed every bite!

B gave me these beautiful lilies for my birthday. They smell amazing! I love how the scent fills our entire house...

My big birthday gift was an embroidery machine... Ooooh I'm so excited about this! I haven't had time to try using it yet, but I am a big nerd and I want to read the entire instruction manual before I get started. : )

For supper, B & I were going to go out for a nice meal at Longhorn, but then I decided I wanted something more casual: Waffle House! We ended up going with my parents, and I blew out "candles" on my waffle instead of cake. What a perfect end to such a fun day!

Another thing I did for my birthday was a little makeover! I lovvvvvved my highlights, but I was ready for something fresh and new... So, dark brown it was! This is pretty close to my natural color. I usually don't like it this dark, but the more I look at it, the more I love it! It is seriously giving me life.

While my birthday was pretty low-key, some of my best friends threw me a little surprise party the next night! We watched the season finale of Pretty Little Liars and ate yummy cookie cake. It was so fun! I wish I had gotten more pictures. And guess what? Most of the decorations are still up, because I just love them!
