Feeling Myself Fall: Give Away!

Hello Everyone!

This weekend I was looking at our calendar over the next few months and I realized Halloween is only 10 weeks away! That is absolutely crazy to me. Time really is flying by and before we know it, it will be 2020.

I am so excited for the upcoming holiday season, but I know that with the holidays comes parties, festivals, and all sorts of fun things! I really want to look and feel my best going into the holidays, and Halloween is kind of the “kick off” to the season. I thought it would be fun to do a motivational/accountability challenge with any of my friends or followers who wanted to join! This isn’t about weight loss, but just feeling good and if we lose weight along the way… That’s win-win!

And at the end, I’m going to do a give away for people who interact and participate! Why wouldn’t you want to join me?!

Here are the challenges:

  • Fitness: Do 50 workings between Monday 8/19 and Sunday 10/27. It can be just a walk around the neighborhood, a class at the gym or a workout on YouTube. Whatever will challenge you to feel your best!

  • Food: You don’t have to go on a “diet” but just try to make the best choices you can day to day. Any time you eat a healthy meal, snack or even just drink your water, post about your successes!

  • Monthly Calendar: I will share a monthly calendar with a different challenge listed on each day. These will be all sorts of different things like, text a friend you haven’t talked to in a while, track your water or even just stretching before bed.

Anytime you complete a workout, make a healthy choice or do one of the daily challenges, post about it on social media and tag me @laurabethharpe or use the hashtag #feelingmyselffall!

Friday Five 8/16/19

We have had a GREAT week around here! With Bryant sick last week, I was going absolutely stir crazy so I was excited to have a few days to get out of the house and get back to normal.

  1. Ginnie’s New House

My grandmother decided this year it was time to downsize. She got the cutest little apartment and my aunt and mom have spent the last few weeks working hard to fix it up. It’s so weird to think she’s not in the house I grew up with her in, but I know she will love her new place just as much as it becomes home!

2. Baby Led Weaning Update

We set a goal for Bryant to try 100 foods before he turns 1 and this week we hit 50 foods! He is doing so good, and loves to eat. There really hasn’t been a food he hasn’t liked so far (which I know won’t last, but don’t rain on my parade) and I love watching him try new foods and textures. This past week we tried quinoa which was a MESS but he really seemed to like it once he got past the texture.

3. Back to School Fusion

We initiated the 6th graders into the youth group this week and it was just pitiful. Taylor always thinks of something gross to dump on their heads or make them eat! It’s hilarious but it makes them stronger in the end : )

Getting Back in the Kitchen

After Bryant was born, and trying to adjust to our new life and routine, we kind of stopped cooking for a while. We ate out a lot or would cook really basic stuff. This month I challenged myself to start cooking again, and I have loved it! This week we tried some new recipes, some tried and true recipes and B even made biscuits last weekend! I’m gonna do a post soon about some of the recipes we’ve tried, so be on the lookout for that.

New Additions to Our Home

With Ginnie moving, she wasn’t able to take all her furniture, so I got her China cabinet. I don’t have one of my own, so I was excited to get something like this from her. I love to entertain, so I have a lot of plates and serving pieces, and I’m happy they all have a home now.

Another addition at the house is our baby gate! We went as long as we could, but we couldn’t avoid it any longer. Bryant wasn’t a fan when we first got it but he is used to it now! And I like that this one is a neutral color and kind of blends in with our current decor. Highly recommend!

Friday Five 7/26/19

Whew! The past few weeks have been so crazy busy! I haven’t even had a chance to catch my breath. We have just been running in every direction, and then we headed to youth camp for a week to top it off! I’m thankful to have had a somewhat normal week to get back on a routine with Bryant! Here is just a little recap of the past week or so…

  1. Baby Led Weaning

We are continuing our baby led weaning journey, and I just thought I would share some of my recent faves.

I found this ravioli at our Kroger and Bryant ate almost the entire container in one sitting! They are the perfect size for his little hands to pick up but not so big I was concerned about choking. He is pretty good with a spoon, but we are still working on fork use so this was pretty much a finger food for him! We will definitely be buying more of these, and trying the different varieties!

We just bought this baby cup for Bryant to practice open cup drinking with and I absolutely love it. He can drink out of it really well if I’m holding it, but we are still working on him doing it himself! He can grip it really well since it’s so small, and it doesn’t hold much, so even if it spills, it’s not a big deal! I won’t go into too much detail, but for more information about teaching your baby to drink from an open cup click here.

2. BaseCamp 2019

Basecamp was a little different this year! I went each afternoon for supper and worship, and then headed home to sleep. I’m thankful for the time I got to go - I even brought Bryant with me on night - but I had major FOMO during the day! My mom is awesome and kept Bryant each evening for us, which I appreciated so much! I really enjoyed camp and I already can’t wait for next year. I think I will feel more comfortable leaving Bryant all week when he’s a little older, but we will see………

3. Cousin’s Day 2019

Facetune_23-07-2019-15-31-07.jpg

This year me, my sisters and my cousins planned a day to hang out and celebrate summer together. It was a blast! We ate chips and dip and tacos, swam in the pool, played games and sang karaoke! My sister Michelle wasn’t able to make it, and she was truly missed! But the rest of us had a great time. I hope this becomes an annual tradition!

4. Moving the Furniture Around

My husband and I are an excellent example of the old saying “Opposites Attract”. I am so spontaneous and random, but he is very concise and thoughtful. So, of course the other day when he got home from work, he wasn’t surprised that the furniture was all completely moved around.

I haven’t even decided if I want to keep it like this, but I like it for now… The dog days of summer are getting to me, y’all!

5. Bryant is 8 Months old!

My boy is growing on me, y’all. I can’t believe we are nearing the end of his first year! Bryant loves the water, he loves people and he is truly the happiest little guy. I am so grateful that I get to stay home with him most days. He keeps me on my toes — the days of laying on the couch while he chills on the floor are OVER — but, he is so fun. I wouldn’t trade these times for anything!

Friday Five

We missed last week’s post because we were at the beach! We have had a pretty good week over at the Harpe household. Reality hit us hard coming off of vacation, and next week we head to Basecamp, so it was nice to have a normal week back on routine!

Taking Care of Pop:

My mom has been out of town on vacation with my sister and her family, so my dad has been on his own this week! Bryant has enjoyed walking their dogs in the mornings and visiting with Pop in the afternoons! We even ran into Pop out on our evening walk one day… We love living close to my parents and I’m so thankful Bryant gets to spend so much time with them day to day!

Baby on the Loose

Bryant is into everything these days. I absolutely love this phase because he’s so curious and full of wonder. He definitely wears me out; I cannot take my eyes off of him for a second! But, it’s still so much fun.

New Foods!

Bryant LOVES to eat. I have really enjoyed letting him try new foods and seeing his reaction! This week we tried watermelon for the first time and I really think he could have eaten half a watermelon on his own. He loved it and kept banging his hands on his highchair for more! Watermelon is B’s favorite fruit, so he was excited that Bryant liked it as much as he does!

Walking, Walking, Walking

It’s been SO hot, but I’ve been trying to make an effort to get outside regardless. It’s good for both of us to get out of the house, and I need the workout! We have been trying to go in the morning before it becomes unbearable outside, but sometimes we just suffer in the evenings. I’m the one doing all the work, so Bryant is really living the dream : )

New Toys!

This week Bryant has gotten a few new things to play with and this is definitely a new favorite! This is really his first toy that makes a lot of noise (much to my dismay), but he LOVES it. There are so many buttons to push and things to look at, so it’s nice to distract him when I’m trying to get anything around the house done. It’s also nice that it is teaching him letters, numbers and colors along the way!
