I had planned a post for yesterday, but then I was lazy, and then I was asleep. It happens.

Thursday was a #basic day. Wake up, go to work, come home, clean the house. I have been dreaming of spring like crazy, so I spent a good chunk of time looking at new flowers and ways to spruce up the outside of our house. #springbaby

I was excited when my mom texted me to go to Waffle House with her and my dad. B was at the church working on our new sanctuary, so I was single for the night. I haven't hung out with Mother and Dad in a while, so it was nice to spend some spontaneous time together.

I tried waiting up on B, but 10:45 is about my limit on weeknights. I passed out on the couch and woke up when I heard him come in.

Today was a good day at work. We had a lot of fun in our classroom and our student teacher, Molly was back for the first time since Christmas. We just had a great day. And I was just in a good mood all day. I like days like that.

Tonight we're getting dinner with some friends we haven't seen in a while, and I'm really excited about that. January is long and cold and everyone is broke. It'll be good to have some fun together.

Closing thought: We have a front living room that is basically empty with the exception of our piano... I'm wanting to furnish it in the next couple of months and make a nice sitting room for guests or for me to sit and drink my coffee in the mornings. The walls are painted a pretty grey, so I'm thinking blue for the couch. I'm so excited!

Back to School

Today was back to work as usual. We celebrated our 100th Day of School and the kids were so excited. It really was a good day, all things considered. I was worn out after lunch; totally ready to crash on my couch... which is exactly what I did when I got home.

I started Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix so I just kind of laid in a comatose state and watched until we left for church. It is SO 2005. The clothes, the haircuts, the music... it is a hilarious walk down memory lane. PS: I miss flare jeans so much.

Also, all I can think about when Alex is on screen is Mossimo from The Wedding Planner. Anyone else?

Oh, and one thing I wanted to mention was a new  beauty product I tried. I have used Batiste dry shampoo for years but I got several new ones to try for Christmas. I’ve liked a couple of them but this one I LOVED.

It’s a foam, so it goes on wet but it dries super quickly. It’s so weird and at first I thought I had ruined my hair because it was wet! But when it dried, my hair was so voluminous and pretty! I loved it.

Pro Tip: Don’t fill your hand with foam as shown in this photo. Use a small amount at a time. A little goes a long way. #fail

Sick Days

The most dreamy spring tablescape...

The most dreamy spring tablescape...

The past 4 days, I have been sick and it has been so terrible. I'm feeling so much better as I write this, and a little part of me is actually excited to go back to work tomorrow. Who am I? But, my DVR is cleared and the indent in my couch cushion is a little too deep for my liking.

The worst part is that it was in the 60's every day and I didn't even get to enjoy it! I'm a spring baby, so this warm weather has given me all sorts of joy. I love the winter for what it is, but my heart was made for the warmth of spring. Plus, I've been watching home improvement shows that were clearly filmed in the summer and it's making me want to knock down all the walls, build a table from scrap wood and recover a dining room chair. CABIN. FEVER. IS REAL.

Today, B stayed home with me and he was the best nurse. Toward the end of the afternoon, I needed to get some energy out, so he entertained my idea to declutter our pantry. This month, I'm really trying to focus on the kitchen and organize it. I've already thrown away so much junk. I feel so free when I throw something in trashcan. It is like a rush of adrenaline, for real.

This is a short post, but I would like to get in the habit of documenting all the moments in my life, and I'm not big on keeping a diary. Some days will be exciting but some days will be like today: pretty basic. They will be in the category "Journal" from now on.

PS- I updated my blog layout and I love it! Let me know what you think!
